Setup and recovery

Get your menu back on screen.

Simple steps for your team. Start with the issue you see.

Make the menu change itself at set times

Open Menu boards, choose a screen, then By time. Add a time, a menu and the days it applies — the screen switches itself from then on, using that location’s own clock. There is a full walkthrough in switching breakfast, lunch and dinner automatically.

Which television is which?

Every screen carries a short tag such as HI‑2 with an emoji, shown in the corner of the menu. If you cannot tell two screens apart, press Identify next to one in Menu boards and that television fills itself with its own name for about a minute.

Give a manager access without sharing your password

Under Account → Your team, invite them by email. They get their own login and can change menus, screens and schedules. They cannot see billing, change your alert settings, or close the account.

Tell me when a screen goes dark

Under Account → Offline alerts, turn on email alerts and set how long a screen may be silent before we tell you. Alerts wait until your quiet hours end rather than waking you at 3am, and you get a second email when the screen comes back.

Change a price without rebuilding the menu

Upload the new picture over the old one: in Images, press Replace. Every menu and screen using that picture updates at once, so you do not have to go round rewiring menus.

Did my change actually reach the screens?

Each screen says so. Showing your latest means it has checked in since you saved. Updating means the change is on its way and usually lands within a few seconds — a screen that is briefly unreachable catches up at its next check, within five minutes. An offline screen says so plainly rather than pretending.

How do I connect a TV for the first time?

On the TV, open its web browser and go to ezmenuapp.com/tv. A six-digit code appears. On your phone, open ezmenuapp.com/connect, sign in, type the code, name the board, pick a menu, and press Connect. The TV shows the menu within seconds and remembers the connection.

What is the difference between a menu, an image and a board?

An image is a file you uploaded. A menu is what a TV shows: one image or a slideshow, plus options like fit, a scrolling message or a scheduled change. A board is a TV. Assign a menu to a board; many boards can share one menu.

Several TVs should show exactly the same menu

Assign the same menu to each board, or use the menu's permanent 10-character code (Menus → Connect code) directly on each TV. Edit the menu once and every TV follows.

How do I make a slideshow?

On Multi and higher: open the menu, tap two or more images in order, set seconds per slide, save. Multi allows 2 images, Multi Pro 5, Business and Enterprise unlimited.

How do I schedule a price change for tonight?

On Multi and higher: open the menu, expand Scheduled update, pick the new image(s) and press Tonight at midnight (or choose a date and time), then save. Every board using the menu switches at that time.

The six-digit TV code expired

Codes are valid for five minutes, and the TV counts down so you can see how long is left. On the TV, press Try again to get a fresh code, then enter the new code on your phone.

The TV says it cannot reach EZmenu

Check that the TV is on Wi-Fi or Ethernet and can open other websites. Then press Try again. If your store Wi-Fi has a sign-in page, connect the TV through it first.

I chose the wrong image

Open Menus, press Edit menu and pick the correct image. Every TV using that menu updates right away. If only one TV should change, give it its own menu under Menu boards → Change menu.

Prices are cropped at the edges

Open the menu and set Image fit to Show entire image. Fill screen can crop edges. Export the menu as a wide (landscape) image, 1920×1080 or 3840×2160, with a little margin around prices. Vertical or square images show with black bars on the sides.

The file is HEIC, PDF, GIF or WebP

Export or convert the original to a real JPG or PNG, then upload that file. Renaming the file extension is not enough; the file contents are checked.

My file is too large

Free and Basic accept files up to 10 MB. Multi and higher can choose source images up to 300 MB; they are optimized in your browser before upload, so the original large file is never stored.

My Free account has no room for a new image

Free includes one saved image. Open Saved images and press Replace file on your existing menu to upload a new file under the same name. Every board using it updates. Paid plans allow five saved images per board.

One board needs different prices

Create a separate menu for that store (Basic or higher) with its own image and assign it only to that board. Changing the shared menu will not touch it.

The internet is down

Keep the TV browser open. The menu that is already loaded stays on screen and a small notice shows that the connection was lost. When internet returns, the board checks for updates automatically.

The power went out or the TV restarted

Reopen ezmenuapp.com/tv in the same TV browser. The board remembers its connection and shows the last menu immediately, then checks for changes. If a new code appears instead, the browser data was cleared: disconnect the old board in your workspace and connect again with the new code.

Someone changed the image while I was editing

Refresh the workspace to see the latest saved menus and board assignments, then make your change again.

The board is assigned to the wrong location

Open Menu boards, press Edit on the board, choose the right location and rename it so staff can identify the TV. Locations never change your price.

How do I free up a board slot on my plan?

Open Menu boards and press Disconnect on a TV you no longer use. The TV will show a new code and the slot is released immediately.

Is the TV board online?

In Menu boards, a green dot means the TV checked in within the last few minutes. Grey means it has not been seen recently; check its power and internet.

Which TVs work?

Any TV with a web browser (most smart TVs), or any TV with a Fire TV Stick, Chromecast with Google TV, Roku with a browser app, or a small PC/Raspberry Pi plugged into HDMI. Set the browser to open ezmenuapp.com/tv on startup where the TV allows it.
